New York-bound Delta flight diverted to Rome after sustaining post-takeoff hailstorm damage

The airplane had taken off from Milan’s Malpensa airport.

“The flight landed safely and passengers deplaned usually. The plane sustained some injury in the course of the unhealthy climate which is being reviewed by our native upkeep workforce,″ the airline’s assertion stated.

Delta did not say what number of passengers and crew have been aboard the flight, nor whether or not they have been booked on one other flight Monday or might need to spend the evening in Rome after touchdown at Leonardo da Vinci airport.
