Two Japanese men had been arrested this week for allegedly contaminating a communal bowl of pickled ginger at a fast-food restaurant as a part of a prank that has spiraled into what some have referred to as sushi terrorism.
Ryu Shimazu, 35, and Toshihide Oka, 34, filmed themselves dipping their chopsticks into the bowl and consuming at a Yoshinoya in Osaka, Japan. A restaurant spokesperson stated the shoppers can solely use utensils to get ginger, not chopsticks they’ve already put of their mouths.
“The video made our common clients really feel uncomfortable and uneasy,” Yoshinoya stated in an announcement, including the chain needed to shut the restaurant to wash its containers, the New York Post reported.
