Greta Thunberg charged with disobeying law enforcement during climate protest in Sweden

Swedish prosecutors have charged climate activist Greta Thunberg with disobedience to regulation enforcement in reference to a protest in Malmö final month.

Native newspaper Sydsvenskan reported Wednesday that Thunberg was detained with different activists after they stopped site visitors within the oil terminal of the port in Malmö on June 19.

A brief assertion by Swedish prosecutors on Wednesday mentioned a “younger lady” was charged with disobedience as a result of she “refused to adjust to police orders to depart the scene” through the protest. The assertion did not determine the lady, however Swedish Prosecution Authority spokeswoman Annika Collin confirmed that it was Thunberg.

Sydsvenskan mentioned the 20-year-old Swedish activist will probably be referred to as to trial on the finish of July. Prosecutor Charlotte Ottosen instructed the paper that the crime of disobedience is usually punishable with fines.

Thunberg’s media workforce did not instantly reply a request for remark.
