Explosion at Gulf of Mexico gas platform injures workers, leaves several missing

An explosion at an offshore gasoline platform within the Gulf of Mexico left six staff injured and several other others lacking, Mexican officers stated Friday.

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador stated at his each day morning press briefing that “three or 4” people were missing following the fire on the Nohoch gasoline switch platform.

The state-owned oil firm, Petroleos Mexicanos, stated in a press release six staff had been injured in the blast early Friday on the platform it operates. Such platforms compress gasoline from oil fields and pump it by way of pipelines.

The corporate stated seven ships evacuated 321 staff from the platform. Images in native media confirmed towering flames billowing from the platform, positioned offshore from the Gulf coast states of Tabasco and Campeche.
