Leipzig defender Benjamin Henrichs has revealed hateful messages, together with racist abuse, that he acquired on Instagram following his staff’s 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund within the German Cup.

Henrichs posted a video on TikTok on Thursday through which he referred to Wednesday’s victory and says “I’ll present you what my DMs appear to be,” earlier than displaying a collection of messages of threats and abuse towards him and his household.

One message had solely monkey emojis, one other known as him the N-word, whereas one other threatened to “discover you and your loved ones.”

The 26-year-old Henrichs, who’s Black, was born in Germany and has made seven appearances for the nation’s nationwide soccer staff.

“We dwell in a society the place everybody on the web can spread hate and racism,” Henrichs wrote in German with a hashtag that means “unlucky reality.”

Leipzig additionally denounced the abuse.

“Leipzig condemns any type of racism, condemns antisemitism and doesn’t tolerate any type of discrimination,” the membership stated.
