Former SuperSonics star Shawn Kemp charged with first-degree assault in shooting

Seattle SuperSonics legend Shawn Kemp has been charged with first-degree assault from an alleged drive-by capturing in March.

Kemp allegedly shot a gun in a Tacoma mall parking zone after a confrontation between occupants of two automobiles. Nobody was injured.

He was launched from a Washington jail the subsequent day.

Kemp says he had property stolen from his automobile and was appearing in self-defense, a supply near the previous NBA star mentioned. Kemp tracked his lacking iPhone to the Tacoma Mall, and when he approached a car, a suspect shot at him, and he fired again in self-defense, he says.

Kemp will plead not responsible, his lawyer, Scott Boatman, told ESPN.

Kemp, 53, spent eight seasons in Seattle, a franchise that moved to Oklahoma and have become the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Seattle performed the Michael Jordan-led Chicago Bulls within the 1996 NBA Finals and misplaced in six video games.

Kemp retired after spending the 2002-03 season with the Orlando Magic.

He averaged 14.6 factors and eight.4 rebounds per recreation in his profession after being the seventeenth general decide within the 1989 NBA Draft.

After basketball, he pivoted to enterprise possession. He opened two marijuana dispensaries in the Seattle area after the state legalized the sale of leisure weed.
