Martin Amis, British writer of dark comedic novels, dies at 73

Martin Amis, a British writer of darkish comedic novels, has died on the age of 73, his writer stated Saturday on Twitter.

Penguin Books stated Amis “leaves a towering legacy and an indelible mark on the British cultural panorama, and will likely be missed enormously.”

Amis died Friday at his dwelling in Lake Price, Florida, the New York Instances reported earlier, quoting his spouse, Isabel Fonseca, as saying the cause was esophageal cancer.

Amis, the creator of 14 novels together with “Cash: A Suicide Be aware,” “London Fields” and “Time’s Arrow,” in 2008 was named considered one of 50 greatest British writers since 1945 and listed for the Booker Prize twice.

Amis, usually known as one of the crucial progressive voices of his era, was the son of the late British creator Kingsley Amis, the topic of his 2000 memoir “Expertise.” He moved to the United States in 2011.

Amis’ first novel “The Rachel Papers” was revealed when he was 23. He labored as an editor at The Instances Literary Complement and later the literary editor of The New Statesman.

Amis informed Reuters in 2012 he was happiest together with his most up-to-date novel on the time “Lionel Asbo: State of England” and fewer pleased with its extra celebrated predecessors “all the best way down the road.”
